The Knoxville Championship Cup season for 2010 came to a close on Saturday, September 4th with a pop and a bang as the rear end failed in the mighty #49. Josh had timed 7th and finished 2nd in his heat to start the feature in 7th place. He bobbled a bit on the first few laps, but took advantage of a caution to get his foot back on the gas and was surging for a 5th place finish when the rear end succumbed to the constant pressure and banging from the clay track scoring him in 20th place for the night. The misfortune cannot take away the excellent success the #49 team has achieved in 2010. Even the announcers on Hoseheads Radio were full of supreme compliments for "the young talented driver who has a lot of success ahead of him in the future."
Jarrod would take a 6th place heat race finish and keep his nose clean for a 15th place feature finish. He too has been praised and is "one to watch in the future" by the announcers. Keep your eyes on the prizes gentlemen, only good things will be ahead for you!
With two points nights left in 2010, Josh and Jarrod took their mounts to Knoxville on a night that would prove costly to many drivers and teams. Amazingly, showing how improved both the drivers are, neither one was involved in any of the wrecks throughout the 360 and 410 features.
Jarrod timed 14th in the 360 class in his #88 car, and then finished 5th in his heat qualifying him for the A main. In a marathon feature race ( over 1 hour from the first green to the checkers) marred with several horrific looking accidents, he would keep his composure and avoid the mangled cars to bring home a 9th place finish. Fortunately, while there were many totaled race cars, only two drivers were taken on their own power to the hospital where both reportedly suffered no major injuries.
Josh timed 10th and finished 5th in his heat also qualifying for the A. He would start the A in the 9th spot. The 410 feature saw several wrecks as well but Josh steered clear of any harm. He would advance to finish 4th for the night.
The team had the opportunity to shine at 34 Raceway in West Burlington on Saturday, August 21st. Not only was it Josh's 23rd birthday, but he was featured in the grandstands prior to the races signing autographs and recounting his Knoxville Nationals performance. He also had an chance to show off his 13th place A feature #49 during a hot lap session in front of a roaring crowd. Announcer Bill Wright then interviewed him on the front stretch with the entire team present for a photograph op.
Being the "Night of the Twins" for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders, both Jarrod in his #88 and John in the #2 took to the track. Jarrod finished 5th in his heat sending him directly to the first A. John finished 7th in his heat and then qualified for the A finishing 3rd in the B Main.
In the first A Jarrod started 11th and seemed to have shot himself from a cannon, battling with some of the regions fastest 360s. Once he took over the 5th spot, he kept his cool and blocked any threat from behind for a top 5 finish. John battled his way forward to finish 14th.
The cars on the lead lap from the first A were inverted for the second A, giving John the outside of row 1 and Jarrod a second 11th place starting spot. John shot out front and maintained the lead for several laps when he would fall back into 3rd as lapped traffic challenged the leaders. Jarrod moved up on John's tail and was pushing for the 4th spot when a yellow flag slowed the action with 2 laps to go. The restart saw the field bunched up and cars scrambling for the checkers and caught both drivers slightly off the mark, finishing John in 5th and Jarrod in 8th for the second 20 lap event.
After the races the pits were packed with well wishers and excited fans who were so glad to have the team on local soil and anxious to congratulate all three drivers as well as the rest of the crew.
It was just a year ago when "The Professor" shared his insights for running the Knoxville Nationals in honor of his father, Bart who had been out most of the season recovering from cancer surgery. In the 12 months since, the now UNI Senior has now achieved even greater accomplishments. What with coming into the Nationals week 8th in 410 points as well as having his first visit to the podium-finishing 3rd to Joey Saldana and Bryan Brown-he has added his claim to fame as the highest finish by an "Iowa" driver" at the 50th Annual Knoxville Nationals on August 14th.
His claim to fame began two days earlier, on Thursday night as he would qualify in 20th place-a bit out of rank for his standards this season-but enough to lead him to a 5th place heat finish would starting him 8th in the B Main. Running the B would give him just the adrenalin rush he needed to take the checkers in the final qualifying spot to start the A main in the 24th slot. Using their knowledge of the track and it's predictable changes throughout the night, the crew gave him just the set up he needed to advance up to the 13th finishing position in the A. With a qualifying points total ranking him in the 25th position of the 100 cars following the second night of qualifying, he would be set to start the B Scramble on Friday night in the 5th spot.
After Friday's show was rained out, the Scrambles were scratched and he would start the B in 5th place on Saturday night. With the ease and grace of a seasoned veteran, he would move in to the third qualifying spot in the B, even challenging for second a time or two. Most notably, passing several of his childhood idols as well as keeping others at bay as he would finish the B in third sending him to his first Knoxville Nationals A Main event.
The 50 lap race had a scheduled red flag at the half way point. By then Josh had already advanced to the 18th position and his momentum continued once racing action resumed following the tire change and fuel stop by the field. He would keep his cool and come home with a second thirteenth place A main finish in two days, albeit a much sweeter victory for himself and the entire team, finishing ahead of so many of his childhood heroes as well as weekly competitors at the track.
And, in a twist of routine, while the #2 car still awaits replacement parts, the engine was transferred to the #88 305 and Josh took the helm to prove his 360 skills weren't rusty at all. He would win his heat race and then finish 5th in the Fast Car Shake Up Dash, placing him on the outside of the 2nd row in the A main. Putting his pedal to the metal, he would achieve a 3rd place finish for the night.
Heading back to Knoxville for the 410 Twin Features night, both Josh and Jarrod in their usual mounts were poised for action at the mighty 1/2 mile. Jarrod would time 21st and run 6th in his heat setting him up to run the B. Starting 6th in the B would mean he would have to pass at least 1 car to transfer to the A. Up for the challenge, Jarrod thrust his #88 car into action and finished the B in 4th place. He would then start the A in the 19th slot and circled the oval gaining enough momentum to move to a 14th place finish.
Josh, back in his #49 would time 6th and then finish 5th in his heat. Being Twin Feature night, the invert for the first A saw him start 6th and hold on for a 7th place finish. For the second A, the cars were inverted based on all those having finished the first feature, lining him up to start inside of row 7. Seven proved to be his lucky number, and he drove to a second 7th place feature finish in one night.
Special thanks to the crew for the quick turn around time in prepping the cars for not only two nights of racing, but two cars running two features each for the night!
(Knoxville, IA – 7/3/10) It was business as
usual for Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 at the
Knoxville Raceway this past Saturday night.
However, the 49 team was struck with a gremlin early on
in the night. “We
fouled a spark plug while warming the motor and when I went to
hot lap the car it vibrated so bad that I pulled it back in,”
commented Josh.
“Knoxville was kind enough to give us a couple of warm up laps
before time trials and I want to thank them for that.
Though our vibration went away we missed on the gear
combination and put up a poor qualifying effort.”
The i wireless, Automotive Machine, Engler
Machine sprinter would start on the pole of the first heat race.
Schneiderman shot out like a rocket in the heat race and
would cruise to victory for the team’s first heat race win of
season. “It felt
kind of nice to win something,” laughed Schneiderman, “The crew
had the car working great and we had obviously solved our gear
problem, which was nice to figure out.
With the qualifying time, the MSFI, Liberty
Transport, Pro Shocks #49 missed the invert and would have to
start the race in the 13th position.
Josh would not get the start he needed, as he fell to the
20th spot and would have to work his way forward.
As the race progressed on Josh had worked his way to just
outside the top ten when a car in front of him broke entering
turn 3. The Ideal
Ready Mix, Willson Trucking, Hephner Race Products #49 had to
take evasive action, spinning to avoid the slowing car.
The way Schneiderman’s luck has been going there were
only 4 laps left at the time, with Josh only being able to make
his way back to the 18th spot.
“We’ve really had some unfortunate luck the last couple
weeks,” Schneiderman says with a smile, “The car was extremely
fast in the feature, but it was so tough to pass cars and the
start really hurt us.
The good thing is the car is in one piece and we will be
back for twin features night to try it again.
One thing about our team is we never quit and we keep
trying. We’re going
to keep working and get that first 410 win!”
The R2 Enterprises, AMP Energy, ButlerBuilt
#49 will be back in action this Saturday night at Knoxville with
Jarrod’s #88 of Jarrod planning to be in attendance as well.
First the team will be making an appearance at the Lee
County Speedway in Donnellson, where it will be Josh’s first 360
show of the year.

(Knoxville, Ia – 6/26/2010) Josh Schneiderman
and his Deuce Motorsports #49 were on a roll Saturday night at
the Knoxville Raceway.
The i Wireless, Automotive Machine, Engler Injection car
was hooked up all night long, but the night would end in
disappoint as Josh would finish the A-Main in the 14th
position.
Schneiderman and the MSFI, AMP Energy, Bell Racing #49 will be
back action this Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway for the
4th of July festivities.
After drawing another tough number for
qualifying, Josh would make the best of the situation by going
out very late in the order and timing in 3rd quick.
“We were able to stick the bottom in Turns 1 and 2 very
nice in qualifying, something many cars couldn’t do,” said the
22 year old driver, “The crew continues to give me an awesome
car and makes my job even easier.
Hats off to the track prep crew for giving us a suitable
race track, given the horrible heat.”
With the strong qualifying effort the Ideal
Ready Mix, Hephner Racing Products, Pro Shocks #49 would start
the third heat race in the 6th position.
Josh was strong from the start quickly working his way to
the 4th position.
Schneiderman would continue to gain on the 3rd
place car making a run on the last lap and overtaking him off
the 4th corner on the final go around.
“I could go anywhere I needed to in the heat,” commented
Schneiderman, “It makes driving racecars a lot of fun when you
have a racecar that will go and stick where you want it to.
We are learning a lot as a team and we have gained leaps
and bounds on everything.”
The invert for the feature was eight cars,
meaning the Liberty Transport, Weld Wheels, ButlerBuilt machine
would line up in the 6th spot.
From the drop of the green flag it was apparent that
Schneiderman was on a mission working his way into 3rd
by the 10th go around.
As lap traffic hung in the balance, Josh would make a
move to the outside of the 2nd place car, while
running in behind a lapper.
Josh would attempt to slip his J&J Auto Racing sprinter
in between the pair of cars, but would not make it that far.
When the car hit the slick Josh spun his racecar off of
Turn 2 to bring out the caution.
Schneiderman would only make his way back to the 14th
position. “This is
the second week in a row that I have spun running in the top 3,”
said the UNI Senior, “I’m very disappointed in myself because I
know better than that.
I’m trying so hard to keep running up front that I may be
over driving the car a bit.
(With a smile) You can bet I won’t let it happen for a
third week in a row.
I have to thank my team and the fans for all their support.
I sure have everyone’s full support, which gives me the
confidence to keep running up front.”
Jarrod would take his #88 Blackbird
Motorsports, Bobby Jacks Racing Engines, J&J Auto Racing
sprinter to his first Knoxville Raceway “B” Feature win,
garnering a spot at the back of the “A” where he would come in
with an 18th place finish for the night. With each
night of racing the 20-year-old seems to feel more and more
relaxed, “I’d like to say we improve a little each time out,”
Jarrod stated following the night’s racing action, “But I know I
have a long way to go and a lot to learn to tame this big old
track. I couldn’t do this without the help of Dad and the crew.
I don’t say it enough, but I really appreciate that Dad
and Mom are behind me every step of the way.”

(West Burlington, IA – 6/19/2010)
Josh Schneiderman and his Deuce Motorsports #49 were back
in action at the Knoxville Raceway after having a week off due
to a rain out. “We
took advantage of last week’s rainout to take Mom out to supper
for her birthday, said Josh, “The family and team got together
to celebrate her birthday and to take some time to relax.”
After last weekend Manny Rockhold and the folks at
Automotive Machine had the 410 tuned back up and ready to go.
Bart and Jarrod worked hard to drop it in and get it
ready for Night #6 of the Chase to the Cup.
On a very hot and muggy Saturday afternoon the team unloaded the
i Wireless, Engler Injection, Automotive Machine #49 to a slick
and dusty track surface.
Josh headed out for qualifying 19th out of the
21 cars and put down a lap good enough for 6th quick.
“Dad and the crew were very attentive and saw the track
was terrible early and had the car setup perfectly for the
conditions,” commented the driver of the #49.
Josh and his Morning Sun Farm Implement, Liberty Transport, AMP
Energy #49 would line up in the 5th position in the
third heat race. The
ButlerBuilt, Pro Shocks machine got a terrible jump on the start
and would fall to 6th.
After a couple of nice slide jobs Josh would finish in
the 4th position.
Josh would lend his thoughts on the heat race run, “We
were extremely fast in the heat race.
Manny and Dad found a couple things with the motor and
really improved on how it runs.
The crew did a fantastic job with the car and I was
really excited for the upcoming feature.”
With an invert of 8 cars for the feature, the Liberty Transport, Ideal Ready Mix, Hephner Racing Products #49 started in the 3rd spot. After a red on the first start, Josh looked like he was shot from a cannon on the second start settling into the 3rd spot. On the second lap he would attempt a slide job on the 2nd place car, but before completing the slider the #49 car slid sideways and spun out in front of the field collecting a couple of cars. The car came in to the pits on the hook, where the crew changed both rear tires and got Josh back on the track. He would recover for a top ten finish, finishing in 9th. “When I started to slide (Brian) Brown I had the car extremely straight,” commented Josh, “But about half way through the car got loose and I just couldn’t get a handle on it. I just plain and simple messed up. I want to apologize personally to Dusty (Zomer), Bronson (Maeschen), and Austin (McCarl) because they were involved in my mess. My whole crew worked hard to get us back on the track and I want to thank them for that. We were able to restart and salvage a decent finish.”

Schneiderman takes home a Top Ten
(West Burlington, IA-May 12, 2010) – Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 made their second appearance at the Knoxville Raceway this past Saturday. The team was looking for a solid finish after suffering a right rear tire failure while running 4th, resulting in a DNF the previous week. With Josh studying for finals in Cedar Falls, Bart and the team worked long hours repairing the damage to the #49 machine. Their hard work paid off as Josh would qualify the I Wireless, Automotive Machine, J&J Auto Racing, Pro Shocks sprinter in the 3rd spot with a lightning quick lap of 14.785. "This car and motor has been super fast right out of the box. Manny Rockhold has done an awesome job with this motor and Dad has been spot on perfect with the tuning. I couldn’t be more pleased with our first two qualifying efforts this year," commented Josh.
Schneiderman and his Liberty Transport, Morning Sun Farm Implement, Engler Machine, Hoosier Race Tire# 49 would start 6th in the third heat race. With a quick, narrow race track and fast field of cars, Josh would fight his way up to the 4th position at the checkers. "With all the rain last week the track was super fast, but the team had the car working good and it allowed us to make some nice moves to get into a transfer spot," said the 22 year old, "I’ve been working hard to improve on my heat race runs and together we are headed in the right direction."
The cool temperatures provided for some hot racing action in the A-main. With the 12 fastest cars being inverted, Josh and his AMP Energy, ButlerBuilt, HRP Wings, Weld Wheels mount would start in the 10th spot. The 25th Anniversary #49 sprinter would fight hard in the top 10 the entire race, with it ending in an 8th place finish. The UNI Senior would lend his thoughts, "The team really gave me a nice car in the feature. The car was fast anywhere on the racetrack, but it was really tough passing with the quick track and quality of race cars. All in all I was really happy with our night and I know the team is headed closer to the front
